In close competition with other suppliers in the market TARGIT has won a strategically important business intelligence order at DT Group. TARGIT will be implemented as the group tool in a large-scale sourcing project, and in the long term, TARGIT’s business intelligence tools will be made available to a large part of the group’s 7,000 employees. This makes the solution one of the largest in the northern part of Europe.
Hjørring, February 7, 2006 – TARGIT has won a significant business intelligence order at DT Group, former Danske Trælast, which is the absolutely largest supplier of building materials for do-it-yourself home improvement and for professionals in the North. DT Group is behind Silvan, Stark and other home-improvement chains in the North, and in the long term, TARGIT Business Intelligence Suite will be made available to a large part of the group’s 7.000 employees throughout these chains.
DT Group runs 250 retail outlets in the North and last year the group had revenue of 16 billion DKK and profits of 850 million DKK. With the objective of optimizing purchase for the benefit of DT Group and not least for the benefit of the customers, the group has established a joint purchase department with the aim to increase the group’s bargaining power towards suppliers. The department name is Group Sourcing, and the purpose is to establish joint purchase agreements across the entire group and to improve negotiation power towards suppliers, and in that way contribute to huge savings during the coming years. To ensure that the department has the necessary overview of key figures in the large pools of data in DT Group’s data warehouse, DT Group invited seven suppliers to a competition.
“We have attached great importance to our users’ impression of the seven business intelligence systems, we originally started to evaluate. After an internal evaluation, we narrowed down the pool of suppliers to four, and after a demonstration of the four systems, we had one obvious winner; TARGIT. We wanted user-friendliness, speed, and functionality, and the conclusion is, unconditionally, that we have chosen the right solution”, says IT Development Executive, Robert Kjeldmand, from DT Group that has chosen to base the TARGIT solution on a Microsoft SQL Server.
“Being a Danish software developer, it is very rewarding to win such an important order in direct competition with several of the world’s largest business intelligence supplier. In cooperation with our partners, PLATON and SOFTWAREIQ, we have made great efforts to present the solution to the end-users and not only to management, which confirms our strategy of offering tools which, through their ease of use, quickly creates value in the customer’s organisation”, says Flemming Madsen, Senior VP of Sales in TARGIT.
TARGIT Business Intelligence Suite is already in use by Stark, Silvan is currently in the process of implementation and later, the remaining Nordic DIY stores as e.g. Beijer. Neumann Bygg, Cheapy and DT Trade will be included in the solution. When the solution has been fully implemented, the plan is that the solution will replace a large part of DT Group’s current statistical programs.
