Lack of a broad view of the enourmous quantities of data and the need for a simple and user-friendly system for management information made Himmerlands Elforsyning choose TARGIT as the group’s platform for business intelligence.
Hjørring, November 11, 2005 – Himmerlands Elforsyning, HEF, has chosen TARGIT as their supplier of a business intelligence solution that, to begin with, are to be used by 20 managers in the organization. The solution enables the managers to analyze data and observe connections across the huge quantities of data that are generated in HEF’s business –, invoice -, and electrical network systems on a daily basis. With TARGIT, management is, in a much easier manner, capable of obtaining a detailed overview of the economy in the group’s various business areas, and they can react much faster if a need for change arises. A lot of HEF’s 180 employees are entering data into the systems directly from “the field” via GPRS, and this means that the data foundation in the TARGIT solutions is updated in realtime. All in all, this provides management with a basis for decision making which is significantly improved compared to earlier.
”TARGIT helps us become better at something we already know a whole lot about. In this way we can gear our own know-how and combine it with the opportunity to go much more in-depht with our data. I expect this will make us an even better supplier of electricity to our 72,000 customers. TARGIT’s simple user-interface and way of working is unique, and I have not previously seen any tools that are this strong at transforming data to usable management information”, says Sørn Sejr Petersen, IT manager in HEF.
Management at HEF uses TARGIT to see data from the ERP-system, Axapta, the billing system, and the electrical network system where all HEF’s technical plants and plant work are registrated. In addition, HEF has many sub-systems that are also supplying TARGIT’s data warehouse with data. So far, the biggest challenge for HEF has been to collect and analyze data from the many systems, but now, management is capable of crossexamining data from various IT systems in very few mouse clicks. With this, it has become considerably easier to aggregate data in a very user-friendly way and see patterns that, in contrast to earlier, are presented with nice graphics. Working with analyses has become much more accessible, and management does not have to spend nearly as many ressources analyzing and evaluating new initiatives.
”TARGIT replaces HEF’s old ”silo-analyses” with a number of transverse tools. The philosophy behind the solution is that it has to simplify the work for the users, so users are not only analyzing the things they are required to analyze, but also become curious about examining new connections - simply because it is possible. This puts HEF in a unique position because the basis for measuring company performance and for decision making suddenly has become so much stronger and well-documentet”, says Flemming Madsen, Senior VP of Sales in TARGIT.
