A new technology has made it possible for any kind of organization to receive warnings about changes that may threaten set objectives. The technology, called “Sentinels”, comes from Florida-based Danish IT company TARGIT Inc., and the company’s CTO Morten Middelfart, Ph.d., has done research on these Sentinels and the financial crisis. The results are alarming.

“We know with certainty that Sentinels can help organizations with warnings on changes in their surroundings. Therefore, we wanted to do a study on the financial crisis. We tested concrete data and Sentinels made correct predictions in 86 percent of the cases, meaning that Sentinels could have given early and proper warning about threats due to the crisis to organizations using Sentinels”, explains the Danish CTO and Ph.d. in Computer Aided Leadership & Management.

He elaborates: “Sentinels are like digital watchdogs that warn you about possible changes in advance by expanding your data timeframe. Of course, it is up to you how you choose to react to the warning, meaning what is vital is that you can now make potentially important decisions faster than ever before. To use Sentinels, all you have to know are the goals you wish to reach. Once stated, your Sentinels will start watching, and they will warn you when conditions that might threaten your goals are imminent”.

The Sentinels technology is available in the latest release of TARGIT’s business intelligence software. “Generally, business intelligence for us is about spreading knowledge through analyses and reports to the entire organization.
