TARGIT Speeds up the Growth

September 26, 2007

Hjørring, September 26, 2007 – TARGIT, Denmark’s largest developer of business intelligence software speeds up the growth. Morten Sandlykke, CEO, believes in the future and he expects that the number of TARGIT BI users will be multiplied by ten by 2015. This is going to be difficult, analytics reckon.

1.5 million Users
This is the ambition of the Danish IT company TARGIT, developer and vendor of business intelligence products. This ambitious goal means that today’s 150,000 TARGIT users will have to be multiplied by ten. The tenfold user increase will, according to TARGIT’s CEO, Morten Sandlykke, result in a turnover of 850 million Danish kroner in 2015 compared to the 70 millions of today.

But the overall strategy will practically stay the same. "We’re going to follow the strategy that we follow today. The product is a 100 percent standardized piece of software. And we will continue the sale through our distributor- and reseller canal as well as through our OEM agreements”, tells Morten Sandlykke.

A Clear-Cut Profile
The strategy, however, does not remain entirely unchanged. TARGIT wants to differentiate themselves from the competitors by concentrating on the simple. "In the future, we’ll display a more clear-cut profile than we have done till now. Many of our competitors battle on more and more features without bringing their users closer to their objective. If you have too many advanced features, BI is in danger of becoming part of the complexity instead of being the solution to that complexity. That’s why we want to make it as simple as possible. We want BI to be for everyone. That’s where we’ll find the market in the future”, Morten Sandlykke believes.

Moreover, TARGIT plans to expand the distributor- and reseller network to include more countries. "In the future, we plan to be, if not a global company, then definitely a strong, international company. Therefore, we intend to be represented in about 20 countries via our distributor- and reseller canal by 2015”, Morten Sandlykke informs. Primarily it is going to be the distributor- and reseller canal which contribute to the growth with 80 percent, while the remaining 20 percent will come from OEM agreements with, among others, Microsoft.

Danish Companies are having a hard Time in the US
The senior analytic, Brian Troelsen, from the analysis company IDC estimates that TARGIT will have troubles realizing their vision. "A tenfold multiplication of users is a very ambitious objective to aim at, but then again, 2015 is several years ahead of us. It is going to be difficult”, is the immediate evaluation of Brian Troelsen, who points to the fact that it is going to be of utmost importance to the Danish IT company that they get a foothold on the American market.

TARGIT’s CEO agrees. "We’re currently focusing on our Marketing department. This year alone, we’ve gone from five to ten employees in the US alone, and this growth is going to continue”, says Morten Sandlykke, pointing out that the growth has resulted in a sizable increase in the number of resellers in the US.

Brian Troelsen calls attention to the fact that in general, it has been difficult for Danish companies to gain foothold in the US. However, in comparison with Europe, the American market is more homogeneous, and American companies are used to employ BI solutions. "When we look at it this way, there are definitely possibilities. If TARGIT gets a good hold of the sales performance, it is certainly not unrealistic that the company can reach the ambition of counting 1.5 million users by 2015”, Brian Troelsen believes.

Few Clicks are the Future!
TARGIT’s CEO is of the opinion that focusing on the simple will push things in the right direction. "Our ’few click’ strategy has the clear advantage that it shortens our customers’ way from question to answer which makes our product more accessible than our competitors’ products”, says Morten Sandlykke.

Exactly the focus on few clicks is in keeping with the development on the BI market, Brian Troelsen from IDC believes. "Previously, BI has been reserved for the specialists, but as BI has become applicable for regular users as well, it has to be easier to use. This is a general trend on the market and TARGIT is in a very strong position with their ’few-clicks’ concept”, the analytic concludes.
