With its 9 stores, 750 employees and a yearly sale of 1.2 billion DKK, Dreisler Storkøb is a retail chain of supermarkets in continuous development. At the Headquarters managerial tasks such as marketing, purchasing, invoicing, and bookkeeping are centralized.

The retail chain of supermarkets, Dreisler Storkøb, faces many questions when managing the space of its nine supermarkets. Has the rebuilding of shelves resulted in higher sales and earnings? How much of the total sales comes from fresh produce? How has the inventory developed through the last years?

Answering these kinds of questions used to be a slow and time-consuming process. Therefore, Dreisler Storkøb decided to examine the market for analysis and reporting software that could simplify this process and provide a general overview of the company’s data.

Easy, fast and effective implementation

After a thorough evaluation of several other products, Dreisler Storkøb decided to implement TARGIT Business Intelligence Suite. “The implementation of TARGIT was easy, fast and effective…and the product is user-friendly. We simply click, drag and drop what we want to see, and the information shows up on the screen”, says Dan Nielsen, Management Secretary at Dreisler Storkøb.

Evaluation of suppliers and future customer needs

Besides answering questions concerning space management, Dreisler Storkøb uses TARGIT to evaluate their suppliers. They compare the movements of the suppliers’ goods as well as track the suppliers’ development. Dan Nielsen explains: “Our dialog with the suppliers has improved because we look at the actual numbers and facts as shown through TARGIT which allows us to examine issues of our relationship from different angles. This is also why we now have a better, objective basis for negotiations with our suppliers.”

Dreisler Storkøb is also able to analyse future consumer trends with TARGIT’s software. By looking at the historical sales data, Dreisler develops analyses and forecasts. “It is now much easier and faster to plan future purchases and thereby meet and satisfy the needs of the customers”, says Nielsen.

Dreisler plans to further expand the utilization of TARGIT to include more business areas. Dan Nielsen expects that in time TARGIT will be as common an application used throughout the organization as Microsoft Word and Excel. They are also planning on implementing TARGIT locally in all supermarkets and thereby provide store managers with an overview of critical business information.

Dreisler now has a clear overall picture of sales, profit and other managerial parameters of vital interest to the company. “In addition to the time we now save, we are also able to view business challenges from new angles. Finally, using the drill down feature in TARGIT, we can investigate problems faster and find the causes and explanations behind the results of the analyses.”
