Matas headquarters, retail stores, and suppliers obtain critical insight from TARGIT

Matas

Matas is a chain of 291 drug stores throughout Denmark. The chain was established in 1949 and has 2.100 employees. The owners of the individual stores also own Matas A/S and the company acts as central purchasing department, distribution centre and marketing department for all stores.

Challenges of an expanding business

Matas, a nationwide retail chain in Denmark, was running an IT system that performed well yet was inflexible, unscalable, and very expensive to upgrade. Management concluded that Matas needed a new system that could easily adapt and grow to help face the challenges of their expanding business.

Smooth installation process

 

After an exhaustive review, Matas selected TARGIT Business Intelligence Suite as its new enterprise Business Intelligence tool because of its functionality, dynamic data structure, fast implementation and affordable price. According to Leif Thesmer, CTO at Matas, “TARGIT was by far the best solution for our needs. We were immediately able to get the same functionality that our previous system provided plus the additional functionality we required with a smooth installation process. The system was easy to implement and user-friendly, which allowed our team to begin working in no time, thus increasing our productivity.”

TARGIT was first installed in Matas’ purchasing, marketing and finance departments. For the marketing department, the solution enables Matas to measure direct-mail campaigns and make decisions based on timely data. The purchasing department uses the system to track and score goods all the way from Matas HQ to individual retail stores that sell products to consumers.

Retail stores and suppliers track sales

Retail stores were connected to TARGIT via NET Clients, which ensured alignment of data and enabled the individual retail stores to analyze sales. Similarly, Matas suppliers were provided with access to the system. “We allow suppliers to track their products both on a long term and daily basis,” said Mr. Thesmer. “We also give them an opportunity to track the results of our marketing campaigns as they relate to their products. The visibility of the suppliers’ products from marketing to storefronts improves collaboration and communication between all parties. That truly is priceless.”

Extremely high usability

According to Mr. Thesmer, the biggest advantage of TARGIT BI Suite is its extremely high level of usability. “The TARGIT Suite is so flexible that employees can tailor the analyses to suit their individual needs. Previously, there were employees in each department who created common reports for everyone to use. After we installed TARGIT, the Business Intelligence tools were so easy to use that the majority of employees now prefer to define their own analysis and reports.”
