I'm trying to enable dynamic periods in a SSAS 2008 time dimension. The problem is that I cant change the periods dimension to fit Targit and I'm forced to use reference the attribute names in the description syntax - i think.
I have a period hierarchy with Year-Quarter-Month-Date.
Example:
Year
Key (date): 2010-01-01
Name: 2010
Quarter
Key(date): 2010-04-01
Name: 2010Q2
Month
Key(date): 2010-04-01
Name: April, 2010
Date
Key (date): 2010-04-01
Name: 1. April 2010
What syntax should I write in the description field on the period hierarchy?
My biggest problem is the Quarter where I have to use the name (because the quarter number isnt in the key) - but there is a "Q" in the middle of the name ex. 2010Q2.
I have tried the following with no luck.
#|TimeDef:[<>].[<YYYY>].[<YYYY>Q<Q>].&[<YYYY-MM>-01].&[<YYYY-MM-DD>]|#
Is it possible?

Hi again,
I solved it using TableLookup.
I would still like to know if it is possible to reference an attribute key or name with a character ex. 2010Q2?
