How to get started
TARGIT needs access to the Microsoft Dynamics AX database, a host server, and managers committed to taking company reporting to the next level.
We recommend that all potential TARGIT users receive training on the solution. TARGIT was designed for ease-of-use and rapid on-boarding of new users, but formalized training helps organizations embrace business intelligence as a solution and ensures a quick return-on-investment.
TARGIT delivers professional and effective training through virtual classes, at TARGIT University or on-site, depending on what suits the organization the best.
The technologies at the core of Microsoft Dynamics AX are the same as the technologies that form the foundation of TARGIT’s BI Accelerator for Microsoft Dynamics AX (namely, Microsoft SQL Server and Sharepoint).
How long does a Dynamics AX BI Accelerator implementation take?
The data warehouse and performance-optimized cube technology that TARGIT’s BI Accelerator for Microsoft Dynamics AX is based on relies on Microsoft SQL Server. For the customer, this means the TARGIT package is provided as an open solution, with flexibility and no restrictions when expanding the solution to incorporate 3rd party integration tools and other data sources. Some BI solutions rely on DRM and executables in which all source code is proprietary, preventing customers from modifying, moving and enhancing the solution with your own internal resources. To support the open data warehouse approach, TARGIT delivers professional services that can take on the entire task of (or be a contributor to) internal data warehouse development.
TARGIT Decision Suite’s core is based on Windows technology, but ensures that a feature-rich business intelligence (BI) experience can be delivered not only through the powerful Windows-client, but also on browsers like Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and Google Chrome. On mobile devices, TARGIT delivers a dedicated client for Apple’s iOS in the form of TARGIT Touch.
And TARGIT also offers integration kits for delivering reports and analyses for consumers utilizing Microsoft Sharepoint. A separate option is available for experienced .NET users enabling integration of TARGIT into custom software or portal solutions.
A basic install will get you started on Business Intelligence (BI) within a few hours. Each organization is different, however, and the data volume and business areas (Finance, Sales, CRM, Supply Chain Management [SCM] and Purchasing) that are important for each customer varies.
When the installation process is complete, the customer will immediately have access to the data through TARGIT’s Decision Suite. Users can open reports and analyses and get comfortable with how TARGIT works. This is typically also the time in the process when end-users receive training and when the Business Intelligence project begins rollout in the organization.
Immediately after the installation, customers’ customization requirements are discussed, and a plan for enhancing the Business Intelligence (BI) solution starts to take shape. The plan is developed as a combined effort of input from the C-level executives, Business Analysts and TARGIT consultants. The result is a detailed project plan with milestones, which is then is executed accordingly. Basic startup customizations are usually estimated to be about a week, however this varies by customer requirements.
