TARGIT Ironmen qualify for the World Championship
September 12, 2011
Second time was the charm for the three TARGIT sponsored Ironmen from Hjørring, Denmark, Rasmus Thomsen, 30, Gregers Rye Christensen, 22, and Thomas Mortensen, 38. At the Ironman in Wales, they qualified for the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii in 2012.
The three men are happy to have won admission to the prestigious event next year after they unsuccessfully attempted to qualify for this year’s Hawaii World Championship at the Ironman in Nice, France.
Rasmus Thomsen was the fastest of the three completing in 9 hours and 52 minutes. He came in third in his age group. Thomas Mortensen, who is also coach for the other two and instructor at TARGIT's running academy, completed in 10 hours, and he came in fourth in his group. Gregers Rye completed in 10 hours and 8 minutes and came in first in his group taking the lead of 16 minutes.
Last but not least, the three Ironmen from Hjørring were the three highest ranked Danes in Wales.
