In today’s world, data is everywhere – it’s gathered by IoT-connected and smart devices, found in external sources, and stored in numerous corporate databases. Marketing departments can have five or more different transactional systems, and manufacturing departments can have even more.

But despite the vast amount of data available, businesses often fail to utilize their business intelligence (BI) and analytics resources to wrangle the right data to make informed decisions. They may delay big data investments or suffer from “information overload,” focusing their attention on a variety of different metrics rather than the ones that are truly important to their business objectives.
