I have two hierarchies, Year - Quarter and Year - Month. I have the dimension set as a Time type. Here are the values from the MDX:

[Start Date].[Year - Quarter].[Year].&[1991].&[199101]
[Start Date].[Year - Month].[Year].&[1983].&[198312]

In the description for the Year - Quarter hierarchy, I have #|TimeDef:[<>].[<>]|# and this works in that I can see Previous Quarters as a selection in the comparisons when dynamic period is selected. But, when I use either #|TimeDef:[<>].&[<>]|# or #|TimeDef:[<>].[<>]|# for the Year - Month hierarchy, I only get previous year as an option and it says month doesn't exist. I have the key for the month field set to an integer field with the format of YYYYMM(198312) and the name field set to a field like Jan, Feb, Mar, etc. How can I get this to work? It seems that setting it up the same way as the Year - Quarter hierarchy should work but it doesn't.

Thanks,

Cindy

Hi Cindy

Is the month attribute of the type Months? Does the month (previous month) actually exist in the data?
You might try adding the base date and manipulate it to check the last question.

Hope it makes sense.

I think you will need something like

#|TimeDef:[<>].&[<YYYYMM>]|#

for your Year - Month hierachy.

In this way you let the system know that you made a combined key for the Month level attribute.
