I want to share an undesired behavior of the period dimension in TARGIT.
Don’t know it only applies to my installation of TARGIT 2K11 build 5418 or it is a general behavior of TARGIT.

In my hieratical period dimension I first choose quarter 1 (Q1) and Q2 as a global criteria.
Then I hid the quarter labels and subtotals in properties -> visibility.
The I added Q3 as a global criteria.

I was surprised that July and August didn’t show up …
It turns out that Q3 hid it’s months as it was not +’ed.

After un-hiding the quarter level, +’ing it, and hiding the quarter level again then the months were showed correct.

It is also possible to hide the months of Q2 like this. Note the visibility settings:

Hi Pall

I fully understand your point about the missing months - and it certainly looks a little strange that these 3 months are missing from the view.

However I think it's a consequence of choices made by the user, and to have the software override such choices might not make every one happy either :-)

In this x-tab Q2 is not expanded:

Now I choose to hide Quarter Labels and Subtotals through Visibility on the Properties Tab:

The software actually does exactly that - leaving me without the months of Q2 - but note that they are still included in the Grand Total.
Also note that the problem only occurs when a hierarchy is "ragged" - partly expanded.

Anyway - it's a scenario that can be debated for sure.

Hope it makes sense :-)
