Hi Anders,

Normally you would probably do this by amending your Data Warehouse to include a Month Key (1-12) as part of your Time dimension. You would then be able to sort by the key. If you only have Month Names (January-December) you will only be able to make alphabetically sortings in the TARGIT client.

However, if you currently only have Month Names available in the client, you can still do it with a small "hack":

1. Create a crosstab with your time dimension on the vertical axis.
2. Add a calculated column (custom calculation) with this syntax: allcount(d1, d1:0(u), m1)
3. Right click the header of the calculated column to sort data accordingly. Right click and choose 'Sort' again to invert the sort order.
4. Go to Properties / Visibility to hide the calculated column.

Best regards,
Ole

So what happens if i have a time hirachy on the vertical axis instead in a cross-tab
Is there anyway to reverse sorting?
I know that i can drag and drop - but it wont on dynamic time.

Hi Tommy,

You reverse the sort order by right-clicking column headers and choosing "Sort" repeatedly. That will change the sort order from ascending to descending to unsorted. (Latest version has a direct ascending/descending option.)

With regard to a sorted hierarchy, TARGIT will by default use a so-called "Hierarchical collation". This option can be switched on and off from the Properties tab: The button next to the Traffic Light button. When switched off, the hierarchy will be "broken" when sorted.
