School data is now easier to access with TARGIT

fevereiro 03, 2016

Denmark’s Ministry for Children, Education, and Gender Equality this week launched a new digital public platform by TARGIT that provides stakeholders of schools fast and flexible access to key performance indicators for primary schools. The tool was created to empower parents, students, administrators, and teachers with easy access to data on schools throughout Denmark to better make decisions on where their children would be best served and how to improve current academic programs.

This expansive new platform utilizes TARGIT Decision Suite to put critical information at the fingertips of everyone through user-friendly data visualizations. Users simply click on their location on the map to benchmark schools on various data points such as attendance, grades, and students’ ability to thrive socially. The online application is free to use and accessible to everyone in Denmark.

The purpose of this impressive new undertaking is to make it easier for everyone involved in the primary education system to engage in dialogue and contribute to strengthening both schools’ and students’ development. Through benchmarking capabilities in a single, easy-to-use dashboard, school leaders can better see where improvement is needed so action can be taken.

Through the platform, principals can add comments regarding their particular school's performance and circumstances, and how the school specifically works with, for example, well-being and subject knowledge. The platform also makes available a detailed analyses of the data that was collected from the country’s general well-being survey carried out by all public schools.

"The aim is to create transparency about the schools’ performance in a user-friendly way,” says Ellen Trane Nørby, Denmark’s Minister for Children, Education, and Gender Equality. “We want all the data we have today in the Ministry's databases to function as a working tool for teachers, principals, school boards, and parents. It is a development tool that will help schools to achieve better results and equip parents, students, teachers, and leaders better to talk together about the challenges.”

  • Student attendance
  • School grades
  • Grades adjusted in relation to schools' socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Data on how students thrive socially and academically, peace and order
  • The students’ educational status at the end of the ninth grade
  • The proportion of courses covered by educators with main subject competence or equivalent

The tool can be accessed at this site from today:
