TARGIT’S Data Discovery tool is all about smashing the boundaries of your traditional data warehouse. Business doesn’t stop at the walls of your company, and the ability to analyze other data sources than just your own is the only way to make truly data-driven decisions.
Dig deeper. Expand your insight further.
How to read data from a local Excel file
Data Discovery converts Excel files into Data Discovery models so they can be integrated seamlessly and analyzed against other data.
How to combine external data with data warehouse data
I'll show how quickly you can build a new analysis to feed the Data Discovery model and demonstrate how to add files to the server. I also show how to use the more advanced Data Modeler to add data sources and cubes. The Data Modeler editor lets you add additional data sources to an existing cube as well as the TARGIT analyses that was just created.
How to transform Data Discovery data with formats
I use the Data Modeler to add a format, which like a layer on top of any data source. Formats display the data precisely the way you want to see it, organized in the way that makes the most sense for you, such as by date. Formats are updated any time the original data sources are updated, so they are always in sync. In formats, users can remove fields, add new fields, pivot, and perform calculations.
