TARGIT Decision Suite’s stateless architecture enables us to continuously roll out new features, product updates, and bug fixes year-round based on our strategic roadmap and requests from our end users.

And with our Cloud solution, you gain instant access to the latest and greatest features as soon as they’re released. No delays, no manual updates—just immediate value.

Over the past several years, we’ve released a variety of impactful features that change the way our customers work with data and drive their business intelligence (BI) operations forward.

In this post, we'll highlight some of the most-loved features we’ve added to TARGIT in recent years, and explain how you can put them into action in your own environment:

Power Advanced Data Analysis

AI Dashboard Summarization

Skip the manual effort of interpreting complex dashboards and reports. Instead, let our AI assistant do the heavy lifting by summarizing what matters most, based on criteria set by Designers behind the scenes and each end-user's own drills. Use the AI menu button to quickly generate an Overview, surface Key Findings, and receive Recommendations you can act on immediately.

AI Forecasting

With our two new AI Forecasting features, both technical experts and business users can use artificial intelligence to create intelligent data forecasts.

  • Ad-Hoc AI Forecasting allows cloud users to now create quick, ad-hoc forecasts directly in crosstabs via TARGIT Anywhere or the Windows client.
  • ETL AI Forecasting opens the door for deeper insights with advanced time series forecasting models that help you predict future performance using all available data in combination with time dimensions.

Filter Delegates

With Filter Delegates, users can tell any object in TARGIT to delegate (replace) a drill to a specific dimension within a given data set, creating a subset of dimension members that are then automatically applied as a filter to all other objects. This is particularly useful for performing a basket analysis or gathering contextual data about a certain dimension.

"Filter delegates allows customers to investigate groups of data (products, customers, employees basically anything) and learn more about them. It's extremely helpful for Basket Analyses, Pattern Analyses, and much more!"

— Niels Thomsen, Senior Solution Architect

Mashup Dimensions

Designers can use this feature to create global dimensions without an expensive, time-consuming reimplementation project. Instead, they can seamlessly join dimensions across cubes and databases and then set global criteria across different connections and cubes within TARGIT.

New Calculation Options

The TARGIT Calculation interface now includes a bigger syntax field, calculation IDs, and various reference options.

We’ve also added several new calculations to give Designers and analysts even more flexibility:

  • Rowname and Colname: Returns a true/false value based on whether the current row or column matches a specific string.
  • Row Level and Column Level: Returns the hierarchy level of the cell value, making it easier to identify and work with multi-level data.
  • Date: Creates calculations based on single-level time dimensions with dates.

Build Smarter Dashboards

Are you looking for ways to make your TARGIT dashboards more interactive and user-friendly? Here are some of our favorite features for designing dashboards that put the right insights in the hands of your end users and promote self-service data exploration.

Components

Save and reuse any object or group of objects across your TARGIT solution. Turn your object(s) into a Component, then save it in your team’s shared repository so other Designers can access, update, and reuse it anytime. Promote consistent branding and design across all dashboards by reusing charts or KPIs. Plus, create global headers, menu bars, nested menus, and modal windows that Designers can then drag-and-drop into other dashboards.

The best part? Update a Component once and your changes will be applied everywhere that component is used in your TARGIT solution. You may also create a copy of any Component and modify it to create a second version.

Consumer Plus Web-Based Editing

"With this self-service capability, Consumer Plus users can now adjust measures and dimensions in crosstabs directly, allowing BI teams to spend less time on minor report requests and more time on strategic work.”

— Jared Cornelius, Director of Presales Consulting

Users with a Consumer Plus license type can directly edit crosstabs, adjust criteria bar filters, and save personalized dashboard views, all within a secure, well-managed environment.

TARGIT Designers maintain ultimate control behind the scenes by enabling editing and pre-defining exactly which crosstabs users can edit in TARGIT Anywhere, thanks to the Document Properties and Editing Rights tools in Designer mode.

Object Toggling

Create multiple views within a single dashboard, rather than loading a new dashboard for each variation of your data.

This feature allows you to customize object- and group visibility to reveal or hide detailed insights when end-users click the corresponding SHOW/HIDE/EXPAND buttons. Plus, Designers have more control over menu design and the integration of help text within dashboards.

Slicer Objects

The Slicer Objects feature simplifies the slicing, sorting, and filtering of data within TARGIT by providing users with visual filters directly on top of a report or dashboard.

It's especially useful in portal solutions as it enables further analysis right on the report screen through dropdowns, lists, and search functionality.

Data Discoverer Improvements

Create better, more consistent Data Discovery cubes with new data validation handling, including the ability to:

  • Automatically retain old cube data if a cube reload fails.
  • Decide whether a data source should automatically trigger a cube reload.
  • Disable the automatic generation of measures from dimension tables.
  • Flag potential consistency issues during the cube design process.

Streamline Report Distribution

Schedule and distribute automated reports your way with TARGIT’s advanced options for scheduling jobs and sharing reports across your organization:

Scheduled Jobs in Tabs

“Scheduled Jobs in Tabs makes it easy to manage and compare multiple jobs at once or quickly adjust job settings without clicking back and forth between views.”

Kristine Jakobsen, Interaction Designer

Easily edit and compare multiple jobs simultaneously inside TARGIT. Edit job definitions in tabs, either one at a time or simultaneously. Enjoy the convenience of copying and pasting properties between similar jobs in just a few clicks.

Plus, see a complete view of all job settings on a single page and quickly access a complete log of all scheduled jobs.

Dynamic Distribution

Set custom criteria based on business logic to create scheduled jobs that automatically adapt to changing data points.

Rather than sending basic – sometimes empty – reports on a set schedule, only send reports when specific thresholds or triggers are met, and only to those affected by the change. Send lists are updated dynamically for targeted distribution, so you can see exactly who’s set to receive each report as you schedule it.
